Catherine & Todd's Engagement
I'll be Catherine and Todd's Cambridgeshire wedding photographer later in the year and they opted to join me for an engagement shoot ahead of the big day. There’s nothing better than capturing a couple’s unique dynamic, and Catherine and Todd’s engagement shoot at Rivey Hill was no exception. Set on the outskirts of Linton, Rivey Hill is a stunning location that offers breath taking views, rolling landscapes, and the perfect golden-hour glow - an idyllic setting for an engagement session.
From the moment we started shooting, it became clear that Catherine and Todd share a competitive streak. Whether it was playful banter, racing to the top of the hill, or seeing who could pull the best dramatic pose, their energy was infectious. Rather than shy away from their natural chemistry, we embraced it, using their spirited rivalry as a theme for the shoot. The result? A session filled with laughter, movement, and genuine emotion.
As the sun dipped lower in the sky, we made the most of the subtle, warm light. The glow cast a romantic hue over the hills, creating a dreamy, cinematic feel. We captured moments of them chasing each other across the open fields, pausing for dramatic stares, and, of course, plenty of laughter. One of my favourite shots from the evening was a playful moment of them running through the wheat fields, laughter echoing as they darted between the golden stalks. The chase ended in the sweetest way—Catherine and Todd slowing down, breathless and grinning, before wrapping their arms around each other in an unspoken truce.
To end the session, we walked up to one of the highest points of Rivey Hill, where the view stretched endlessly into the horizon. As they stood hand in hand, silhouetted against the fiery sunset, the playfulness melted into something softer—an unspoken understanding between them, a moment of calm amidst the fun. It was the perfect way to round off an engagement shoot that truly reflected who they are as a couple.
Here’s a small selection of images from Catherine and Todd’s lively, love-filled engagement session at Rivey Hill.

I'm lucky to work as a Cambridgeshire wedding photographer on a regular basis with the county being so close to home. It's is a dream location for weddings, offering a perfect mix of historic charm, stunning landscapes, and versatile venues. From the breath taking architecture of Cambridge University’s colleges to the picturesque villages and rolling countryside, Cambridgeshire provides an incredible variety of backdrops for wedding photography.
For couples looking for a touch of grandeur, venues like the elegant Longstowe Hall or the romantic South Farm offer stunning settings with beautifully landscaped gardens and historic charm. Those dreaming of a more rustic celebration will find plenty of charming barns and countryside estates, while riverfront venues along the Cam provide a unique and peaceful setting.
One of the things I love most about photographing weddings here is the incredible light—whether it’s the golden glow over the Fens at sunset or the soft, dreamy atmosphere created by the historic stone buildings in Cambridge. The county’s mix of tradition and natural beauty makes it a truly special place to capture love stories, and I always feel privileged to document such meaningful moments in this part of the country.
